# HTML in caption not saving

* Hello! When editing the html of a caption, heading and p tags seem to work fine
but a span tag gets removed when saved. Is there a way around this?
* **Updated note:** If I add a class to the span it sticks.

* Hi [@girdy74](https://wordpress.org/support/users/girdy74/). We’re using the
TinyMCE editor for these captions. It’s possible to disable that if it’s modifying
your HTML output in ways you don’t like. In the “Settings & Help” area you can
disable TinyMCE and use straight HTML input for captions.
