# Http 500 error message

 * Finding it impossible to make any edits to our website. We keep getting kicked
   out with either an Http500 error or an error page advising that the wp-config.
   php file is inorrect or its unable to connect to localhost.
    We had several attempts
   at logging in earlier in the day via the wrong WordPress site – no idea if this
   has had an impact on our current problems. Our website is [http://www.lovelylettings.co.uk](http://www.lovelylettings.co.uk)

 * Try:
    – switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder
   inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using
   [FTP](http://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients) or whatever file management application
   your host provides.
 * – [resetting the plugins folder](http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F)
   by FTP or phpMyAdmin.
 * – re-uploading all files & folders – **except** the wp-content folder – from 
   a **fresh** download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of
   files & folder before uploading the new ones.
