# HTTP Error 500 Internal server error

 * Hi,
 * I activated the plugin however when I tried to connect to my WordPress.com my
   site got a 500 error.
 * I’m not sure really what to do in terms of debugging it to see what went wrong
   because the site basically went down the moment I tried to do it.
 * I’ve seen threads before where you asked people to install a Jetpack server compatibility
   plugin but the links don’t work. Should I install that or does anybody have any
   further help?

 * I’m sorry to hear you’ve run into issues.
 * A good first step would be to increase the memory allocated to PHP on your site,
   to make sure that’s not the bottleneck here:

 * If that doesn’t help, could you check your server error logs around the time 
   when you experienced the issue, to find out more about the error?
 * If you don’t know how to access your server error logs, your hosting provider
   should be able to help.
