 * Hi I desperately need assistance. I was trying to manually move my account from
http to https and I majorly screwed up. I was using the instructions here: [https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-add-ssl-and-https-in-wordpress/](https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-add-ssl-and-https-in-wordpress/)
and messed up somehow. I cannot even access my dashboard in order to access my
backup or the .htaccess file to correct it because the url now says [https://lvypaa.org](https://lvypaa.org)
rather than [http://lvypaa.org](http://lvypaa.org). PLEASE HELP ME
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Fhttp-to-https-disaster%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)
   to see the link]_

 * Use the control panel (e.g. cPanel) provided by your host to access to the site
   files and database. [This link](https://wordpress.org/support/article/changing-the-site-url/#changing-the-site-url)
provides 4 ways to change the site url without accessing the WordPress dashboard.
 * * Save a backup of the file or the database before you make any changes.
    **
Make sure that your host has an SSL certificate enabled on your accont before
   you enable HTTPS.

 * Thank you Barnez. If my host does not have an SSL certificate enabled on the
account before making it HTTPS and there also is not a cPanel for me to access,
is there a way to close the site?

 * Who is your host? Do they offer FTP access? Or some type of file manager? They
must offer some way to access your site files and database outside of the WordPress
   dashboard itself.
 * If the answer to the above is no, then you will need to ask the host to modify
the files for you to fix this issue. Then, I would move to a different host that
offers control panel to access the site files/database.
