# HTTP to HTTPS SSL redirect very slow

 * I thought I had a different issue with my site but it seems this is the biggest
   load issue. If I were to put elixircbd.com into my browser then it would take
   around 5 seconds to redirect to my https and load up my site (around 6-9 seconds
   total load time give or take). However if I were to put [https://elixircbd.com](https://elixircbd.com)
   into my browser it will load within 1-2 seconds (upto 3 seconds load time give
   or take) . How do I make this http to https redirect almost instant or at least
   a lot faster?
 * Just an FYI. I don’t use any SSL related plugins. I have set up a 301 redirect
   in my .htaccess for my site to redirect and have also changed my site URL in 
   my WordPress settings to be https rather than http. I use w3 total cache with
   cloudflare.

 * You’ve either resolved this or it’s not really a problem. My Chrome developer
   tool reports the redirect taking 143ms, a pretty typical server response time.
