 * Hi, I have a WordPress website equipped with SSL. Using a bit of code that I
   added to my .htaccess file, my website redirects visitors to https on all my
   web pages. My website also lacks www in the URL. In order to use Cloudflare to
   speed up my website, do I merely have to sign up with Cloudflare through my web-
   hosting company–Hostgator–and also install the Cloudflare plugin? Or do I have
   to take any additional steps given that my website redirects visitors to https
   and lacks www in the URL? (I’m asking because I read somewhere that Cloudflare
   only works on websites that have www in the URL?)
 * Thanks!–D

 * “Cloudflare only works on websites that have www in the URL?)”
 * This is not true & only applies to hosting partner signups (activating through
   their panel). Customers that don’t have/don’t want www can simply signup for
   CloudFlare directly.

    If you are trying to activate the [free SSL option](https://www.cloudflare.com/ssl),
   I do need to advise that this is only possible when you signup for CloudFlare
   directly (not available through a hosting partner signup).
 * Some tips that might help [configuring Flexible SSL with WordPress](https://support.cloudflare.com/hc/en-us/articles/203487280--How-do-I-fix-the-infinite-redirect-loop-error-after-enabling-Flexible-SSL-with-WordPress-),
   if that’s what you’re trying to activate through CloudFlare.

 * Thanks for the helpful clarification. One quick follow-up question: my webhosting
   company Hostgator has already installed SSL on my website. If I want to sign
   up for Cloudflare directly rather than sign up for Cloudflare through my webhosting
   company Hostgator, can I still use Cloudflare in conjunction with the SSL provided
   by Hostgator? Or in order to use Cloudflare directly, do I need to jettison my
   current SSL and get SSL through Cloudflare?
 * Also, I have Wordfence Security installed on my website. Do you know if Cloudflare
   and Wordfence are compatible with each other?
 * Thanks!

 * “If I want to sign up for Cloudflare directly rather than sign up for Cloudflare

   with the SSL provided by Hostgator?”
 * Yes. You would want to make sure you’re choosing the [FULL SSL](https://support.cloudflare.com/hc/en-us/articles/200170416-What-do-the-SSL-options-Off-Flexible-SSL-Full-SSL-Full-SSL-Strict-mean-)
   option with SSL directly on your server.
 * “Or in order to use Cloudflare directly, do I need to jettison my current SSL
   and get SSL through Cloudflare?”
    No, you would still want to keep the SSL on
   your server for the best security.
 * “Also, I have Wordfence Security installed on my website. Do you know if Cloudflare
   and Wordfence are compatible with each other? “
    Should be ok as long as two
   things are set:
 * 1. Make sure [CloudFlare’s IPs](https://www.cloudflare.com/ips) aren’t blocked/
   limited in WordFence or on your server.
 * 2. I would strongly recommend installing the [CloudFlare WordPress plugin](https://wordpress.org/plugins/cloudflare/)
   or [mod_cloudflare](https://www.cloudflare.com/resources-downloads) to make sure
   the original visitor IPs are showing. Since we act as a reverse proxy for websites,
   our IPs will show unless something is installed to restore visitor IP.
