# I cannot update a theme

 * I cannot update a theme (Libre 2).
 * On my test site (copy of my official site) I was able to update Libre 2 to version
   2.2.8. However, on my official site I have version 2.2.6, and WordPress tells
   me to update it to version 2.2.8, but I cannot do it.
 * If I try to do the update from the “WordPress Updates” page, it just gets stuck
   to “…Enabling Maintenance mode… Updating Theme Libre 2 (1/1)”, and it’s still
   stuck even after an hour.
 * If I try to do the update from the “Themes” page, it states “Update failed: Download
   failed. Forbidden”
 * (With my test site, I might have done the theme update before updating WordPress
   from 5.9.9 to 6.4.3, but I’m not sure.)
 * What’s wrong? Please, any solution?

 * It’s a “refreshed version” of (translation: different from) the old and abandoned`

 * The WordPress.COM theme page says **_“This theme is available for download to
   be used on your WordPress self-hosted installation.”_**
 * But when I clicked the link to try to download it, I was hit with an error message:

   > This file requires authorization:
   > You must be logged in and a member of this blog.
 * I don’t know where the version of the theme you have currently installed is pointed
   at for updates, but this seems to be the root of the problem: the “Libre 2” theme
   is not available at WordPress.org at all, and the WordPress.com link is returning
   a **403:Forbidden** error.

 * Hmmm, I’ve used this theme for several years, first version 1 and then updated
   to version 2 (on WordPress.ORG).
 * Yes, I understand, if it’s not anymore supported, but how was I able to update
   Libre 2 to the version 2.2.8 just two days before on my test site (which is a
   copy of my official site)????? And now I’m not able to do it on the official 
   site?!?!?!
 * Version 2.2.8 works on my test site, as well as version 2.2.6 works on my official
   site (both wordpress.org).
 * Any further ideas?
