I have to use specific .sql database for install

    Hi – I paid a developer to make a wordpress site for me, and I have to use the .sql database that he created on the install.

    I assume that means that during the install, I’m supposed to name the database the same as the existing one, but the host automatically named the new mysql database I created the wrong name, and I can’t get access to change it.

    Also, once I have the database named correctly, I assume I should then import the existing database into it through mysql panel?

    Also – is there anything else I need to keep in mind with using the build that my developer gave me as opposed to a typical install?

    you mean the developer gave you a .sql file and you want to use this file in fresh install.

    If so you can use phpmyadmin and drop all tables and import the .sql file.

    Or if the MySQL database exists on the same server as the WordPress installation, and you just need to tell WordPress the name of the database, you can do so in the wp-config.php file.
