The author of my theme very kindly resolved the issue for me. They said it was not actually a theme related issue but a plugin matter.

    They said:

The plugin author should check if the Font Awesome exists before enqueueing to WordPress because there are templates with different versions of Font Awesome and we are sure there are many other templates that have the same problem.

The plugin is designed to use special Font Awesome Icons and must be guaranteed that it will load its own script.

    Hey there,

Thank you for reporting it to us. We will check and fix it in an upcoming release of the plugin when we add support for Font Awesome 5. Thanks again. 🙂
