 * Hello,
 * After upgrading to the latest version of WordPress (3.5). My icons look horrible.
 * I’m not sure if it’s problem or if everyone has the same appearance.
 * Most of the time I have to mouse over the icons to get the alt text.
 * Anyone else having this problems ?
 * Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

 * I may have to repost the image because my site doesn’t allow hotlinking.

 * Try deactivating all plugins (yes, all) to see if this resolves the problem.
   If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic
   plugin(s). If you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try resetting the plugins
   folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin (read [http://bit.ly/UhpkLl](http://bit.ly/UhpkLl)
   if you need help). Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

   Try switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
   If you can’t log in to change themes, you can remove the theme folders or rename
   it via FTP so the only one is twentyeleven. That will force your site to use
   it.

 * So you can confirm your icons don’t look like my picture ? The other admin icons
   are screwy too, just didn’t make a screencap.
 * I’ll try your suggestions in a few minutes.
 * Thank you.

 * My wp icons look like yours. Messy code, insert image, spell checker, page break
   but your others looked like something was missing.

 * Have you solved by turning off all the plugins ?
 * I can’t do much right now. Only thing I tried was the Theme, didn’t help. My
   theme hasn’t changed before or after(only now to the default theme) the upgrade
   that would cause the problem.

 * Just checked and the icons are find on my Laptop.
 * Does anyone know how to change the resolution of the WordPress admin ?
 * Really would like to solve the problem.
 * Thanx.

 * I’m not sure if you can change the resolution of your WP admin page. Perhaps
   look for a plugin?

 * > Just checked and the icons are find on my Laptop.
 * So that tells us the problem is on your computer. Where did you get those icons?
   Turn off that plugin so you just have the icons from TinyMCE (the default for
   WordPress.

 * They are the default WordPress icons. All the icons in the Admin sections are
   screwed up.
 * Too large.
 * Could the css be the problem ?
 * I didn’t make any alterations, this happened after the upgrade.
 * Thanx for your help.

 * My url is [http://www.doublesixx.com](http://www.doublesixx.com)
 * But you won’t be able to see the icon problem because it’s in the back end.
 * Only see the problem when I goto make a post or a page. The icons in the admin
   menu are also screwed up.
 * Thanx I appreciate the help.

 * Your icons are not wordpress default. You have a lot of plugins and one or more
   of them is most likely the problem. Your site also is set to emulate IE7. That
   is not good.
 * You should try
    -flushing any caching plugins you might be running, as well as
   server and/or browser caches. -deactivating all plugins (yes, all) to see if
   this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one
   until you find the problematic plugin(s). If you can’t get into your admin dashboard,
   try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin (read [http://bit.ly/UhpkLl](http://bit.ly/UhpkLl)
   if you need help). Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
   Also remember to deactivate any plugins in the mu-plugins folder if you have
   one. The easiest way is to rename that folder to mu-plugins-old (read [http://bit.ly/WMrMM5](http://bit.ly/WMrMM5)
   for more information on mu-plugins) -switching to the Twenty Eleven theme while
   the plugins are disabled to rule out any theme-specific problems. If you can’t
   log in to change themes, you can remove the theme folders via FTP so the only
   one is twentyeleven. That will force your site to use it.

 * Big thanx. A lot to test but I’m patient.
 * Instead of deactivating all my plugins can I just rename the plugin directory?
 * Isn’t that the same ?
 * Should be quicker then I don’t have to take screen shots of settings etc.
 * Truly appreciate your help and insight. Have a great weekend.
 * edit :
 * Almost forgot, is my site emulating ie7 because of the style sheet I have ?

 * The problem has to be on my end not the server.
 * If the laptop has no issues displaying the icons then it shouldn’t be the server.
 * I’ve cleared caches etc.
 * Plus I don’t use ie at all, I’ll try with different versions of FireFox on my
   PC I know I don’t have the same version as the one on my Laptop.

 * OK the problem is completely FireFox.
 * Works fine on this computer with a different version of FirFox, that’s the only
   browser I use.
 * Thanx for all the help and input.
