Hi @climbingtom,
your site returns an ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR. This is usually caused by a misconfiguration on the server, the server is likely sending regular http:// requests over https://, resulting in this error. It can be fixed by your hosting provider by adjusting the SSL configuration on the webserver. See https://really-simple-ssl.com/knowledge-base/err_ssl_protocol_error/ for more information about this error.
Hi Mark,
Thanks for this.
My concern is that I have the SSL certificate in my downloads folder currently and have no idea what to do with it.
The SSL was purchased from GoDaddy. I have spoken to GoDaddy support, and they tell me the certificate is successfully installed on the domain, but I need to instal it also on the website for the site to be secure.
So I have no idea if the plugin can read the certificate just by it being on my computer or if there is something I need to do to get the certificate uploaded somewhere where it can be read.
I’m not a developer and have no understanding of code, so ‘checking port 443 is open’ is a bit like greek to me I’m afraid!
Thanks so much for your help,
Tom
Hi @climbingtom,
GoDaddy support is wrong: the SSL certificate is not installed successfully on your domain yet.
Please send them this link:
https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=vortexstrategy.com
It shows clearly that the certificate is not correctly installed yet.
As soon as the SSL Labs scan returns a grade A, Really Simple SSL will be able to detect it.
