 * I thought I read somewhere that you could create Image Maps with this plug-in,
   but now that I have it installed I don’t see this capability anywhere. Is this
   possible?

 * Not currently. Image mapping was available in my older plugin (Ultimate Tinymce).
   It’s going to take a little while to find (create new) another image mapping 
   plugin that is compatible with WordPress 3.9 and the updated Tinymce version 
   4.
