Image size and Map size

Is there a method to change the image size (tooo big) and or change the map size? Are other layouts that better accommodate smaller images, as it appears the default layout design is very image centric requiring a huge image to “work”.

Looking in the settings section for a single page layout, specifically the “header layout” the only option is to add or remove the image slider entirely, not resize it?
