    Hi,

I’m testing out MetaSlider and created an image slideshow. It looks great in preview within the MetaSlider dashboard and in the page editor, but when I view in the frontend I am seeing some issues.

I am using the slide transition effect with horizontal slide direction. The images (both custom & default images) seem to be hidden at first and briefly display only when selecting the left arrow navigation. The images also seem to be rendered all together vertically instead of horizontally on each slide and briefly display then disappear. Slideshow seems to be rendering fine when I change to vertical slide direction however.

I do see this warning at the top of the page “Warning: Directory /var/www/html/wp-content/plugins/ml-slider/lib/htmlpurifier/library/HTMLPurifier/DefinitionCache/Serializer not writable, please chmod to 777 in /var/www/html/wp-content/plugins/ml-slider/lib/htmlpurifier/library/HTMLPurifier/DefinitionCache/Serializer.php on line 297”

I am using wordpress:6.8.3-php8.1-apache docker image and hosting in AWS ECS. Not sure if that may be causing the issue.

Any idea what may be happening or how to try to fix? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Hi @ez2498

since the plugin works fine in admin but not in frontend, I suggest to test under these 2 scenarios:

    1. Switch to another WordPress theme for a minute and see if the issue is gone. This may confirm the theme was in conflict with MetaSlider
    2. Deactivate (NOT uninstall) all the plugins, except MetaSlider for a minute and see if the slideshow works fine then. This may confirm there is a conflict with a third party plugin.

    hi @htmgarcia

Thank you for the suggestions. I did deactivate all other plugins and the issue was still there. However, I did switch to WordPress Twenty Twenty-Four theme from Twenty Twenty-Five and the issue seems to be gone. Any known conflicts between MetaSlider and Twenty Twenty-Five theme by chance? If not, would you suggest some conflict with some custom settings I may have with the theme?

    Thanks!

Hi @ez2498. That’s good to hear you’ve made progress. I would be surprised if it’s a Twenty Twenty-Five theme issue as that’s where we do the majority of our testing. My guess is that perhaps changing the theme also cleared the browser cache. If you go back to Twenty Twenty-Five and this remains an issue, please send a link to the slideshow.

We don’t have previous reports of conflicts with Twenty Twenty-Five. Do you have a link of your site to preview the slideshow?

    Hi @htmgarcia, @stevejburge,

Thank you for your responses. Unfortunately I can’t provide link to my site because you won’t be able to access it. I did switch back and forth between the 2 themes and the issue still exists in Twenty Twenty-Five, but thanks for confirming there aren’t any reported conflicts and most of your testing is with this theme. I think that definitely helps narrow down my issue and I’ll have to do some digging.

Maybe I mark this topic as resolved for now and reopen or create another topic if I find the exact issue and need further assistance?

    Thanks!
