# Import – Export problem – format problem

   > So the problem starts when I export the products from the website. Excel (or

   > If i open it manually from excel, it opens how it should (Data, From Text/CSV).

   > creates more empty products and does nothing with the one that should be edited(

 * Hello,
 * I’d suggest to open your file in Google spreadsheet instead of Excel – Google
   usually can handle CSV files correctly.
    - Export your products into CSV again
    - Upload the file to Google Sheets
    - Select the option to “detect” automatically the format.
    - Edit the file and download it back as CSV.
    - Upload it to your store (I’d suggest creating a staging site if you’d like
      to try first)
