    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

Did you do this in TablePress or in the old and outdated WP-Table Reloaded? If the latter, please migrate to TablePress and try again. Thanks!

    Regards,
    Tobias

Merci Tobias, unbelievable to receive so quick an answer. I used your new TablePress (compliments!) to load the main table of http://assfra.org (”in statu nascendi”). I have more stuff in french spreadsheets and docs, so a solution would be fine. Thanks in advance, Fred.

    Hi,

thanks for the clarification. I was just asking because you have posted this in the forums for WP-Table Reloaded and not TablePress.

Now, the problem with such special characters usually is the encoding. TablePress is actually pretty good about this, in that it will try to automatically detect and convert the encoding as necessary.
However, there are cases where the encoding in the file was already “broken” so that the file does not actually contain the special characters (like accents and so on). In that case, TablePress can of course not import them correctly.
To check this, please open your CSV file in a text editor (like Notepad) and check if the characters are correct there. If not, they were not saved correctly by the program that created the CSV file.
Then, also check if the file is stored in the UTF-8 encoding, via “File” -> “Save as”.

    Regards,
    Tobias
