Is there any way to import images as well so for example YouTube thumbnails could be used in a recent posts image slider plugin?

the only images that are imported is when you are using the feed to post and choose to have the images imported as Featured Images.

So it’s possible via http://www.youtube.com/t/rss_feeds?

if you give the plugin a youtube feed, it will take the image and point to youtube page, but not bring the image into your media library.

Please consider it a feature request then. 🙂 None of the YouTube importers I’ve found do it either – they just use iframes.
