# Import problems from MT

 * I just installed WP today, and am not able to import my MT posts I exported from
   my former MT blog. I have a single .txt file that I exported from MT. I keep 
   getting a WP error:
    Unable to create directory /usr/www/users/jeffkeef/silenceandvoice/
   wp-content/uploads/2007/08. Is its parent directory writable by the server?
 * I asked my host (Pair Networks), and they said that this file structure is not
   already on my site, and apache does not automatically write to it. I created 
   the folders it stated, and still nothing.
 * Can somebody please help? I don’t want to begin using WP until I am sure I can
   import all my previous posts.

 * Believe me, my goal is not to spend countless unpaid hours here to learn that
   I’m not particularly helpful.

 * Thanks for the clarification, as well as your unpaid hours! Believe me, I will
   gladly pay for somebody to fix this issue at this point.
 * I spoke with my host, and they (Pair) replies:
    “The parent directories for wp-
   content are all writable, including wp-content.”
 * The exported file I have from MT is a single .txt file. Large, but a single file.
 * Any thoughts about this, or is there another way I can try it?

 * You’ve created the `/usr/www/users/jeffkeef/silenceandvoice/wp-content/uploads/
   2007/08` directory, right?
 * Now, what are the current permissions on it? (see that link I gave in the last
   reply).
 * You might try [temporarily] making it “world writable” just to see if that’ll
   help.

 * I created that directory, but my host said that the permissions are such that
   the directory should be created as needed.

 * I followed your suggestion and made it completely writable, and in all my posts
   went! I then changed it back, and it seems to be working fine.
