 * I’m trying to figure out how to import data into wordpress from a old site and
   wonder how this can be done.
    I have access to the old database and was thinking
   about building an xml-file from that and using the import function in wordpress.
   So fare i have only had a look at xml-data downloaded with the export function
   in wordpress, and done some research on what plugins can do for me. I need to
   import news and sites with an associated image, and also image galleries. What
   is the best way to deal with this? will the import function in wordpress be sufficiant
   or should i look for a plugin? any thoughts or ideas?

 * I lost access to my WordPress site and couldn’t export the data in WXR format.
   I ftp’d the data to my computer to back up the files and cleaned them up (part
   of the reason I lost access was the intrusion of a virus). And I think I have
   all the files I need to go back up.
 * I’ve reinstalled WordPress on my site, after having uninstalled it. And now I’m
   ready to import the files I downloaded. I’ve activated the Import plug-in on 
   the site and have tried looking for the file in various of the options provided;
   but I can’t find any that will work.
 * Can anyone help with this process?

 * I have to point out that the old site is **not** wordpress but build in a CMS
   we made on our own
