 * The include_date default format is an American date format.
 * E.g. 7/30/12
 * It would make more sense if the default value conforms to whatever’s configured
   in WordPress settings.
 * I.e. wp-admin > Settings > General > Date Format

 * I agree, I should have used the default date format. But unfortunately changing
   it now will affect all of the sites currently using the shortcode and expecting
   its current output.
