# Index.php – permalinks

 * I cannot find any solution to removing the index.php from my permalinks structure?
   I’m on an Apache server and have added a .htaccess file saved-as “all files” 
   and still it returns a “404” not found error when I remove the index.php from
   the string. [http://rentals-oahu.com](http://rentals-oahu.com) running a child
   theme. Permalink structure /%postname%/
    Help please!

 * Sounds like your host hasn’t set up mod_rewrite properly

 * It is and I have dozens of WP sites running without this issue so it’s driving
   me crazy.
