# Initial Sync Issues

 * Hello,
 * we are setting up a new audience for an eshop that did not have Mailchimp before.
 * Some email contacts are imported to Mailchimp, directly from a file.
 * During the plugin setup, I chose “**Sync existing contacts only**“, which mentions“
   _Only WooCommerce customers who are already in your Mailchimp audience will sync._“.
 * However, the plugin just blindly imports all the customers from all orders, regardless
   if they they were in the Mailchimp audience or not. And they are also marked 
   as “subscribed” (!)
 * Why is that? I would like to just sync the existing audience or even sync nothing
   in the initial setup.

 * Thank you. Please let us know asap since this is quiet a serious issue and basically
   prevents us from connecting new clients to Mailchimp.

 * haven’t tried version 5 yet, but also did not notice any relevant issues in the
   changelog.
