Most probably the issue is related to the wp-config.php file – if you have access, check the files permissions and make sure are correctly configured. Let me know if you encounter any other issues, I’ll be happy to help you 🙂
I have an embarassing issue.
Just installed WordPress on a new domain using Dreamhost one-click install. All worked fine. However previously when I would visit the site and use wp-admin area for the first time it would allow me to configure admin name etc.. Now that option is missing!
When I enter the Wp-admin area it asks for my username and password which I have not yet set since it’s a new wordpress install.
It has been a while since I did a new install – what am I missing??

@railtalent – It’s not you, it’s us!
Since last year, we’ve been auto-setting up WP for you with a random username and a password even we don’t know, so that if you install WP and walk away, no one can finish the install for you. You actually should have gotten an email from DreamHost telling you to click a link to reset your password. If you didn’t get that (damn it, email), then put in your email address that you used in WP panel and ask WP for a reset. That will email you another link to reset.
