Installation

I am trying to install wordpress on my self-hosted website on GoDaddy servers. I’ve uploaded the files to my website under a blog sub-directory. When I try to run the install file (wp-admin/install.php) in a browser per the install article I get the following error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘.’ in /home/content/09/5628909/html/blog/wp-includes/user.php on line 588

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.
