 * i’m new to wordpress and last week i downloaded version 1.2.2 and i installed
it today. however when i went to the site, i downloaded version 1.5 and wanted
to install that. so i deleted all of 1.2.2 ( i hadn’t really started using it
yet – i just did some mild customization in options) and installed version 1.5.
but now everything is really weird and when i go to my wordpress site, nothing
is there. there is a lot of gibberish on the dashboard and presentation pages
   like this:
 * WordPress database error: [Unknown column ‘autoload’ in ‘field list’]
    INSERT
   INTO wp_options (option_name, option_value, option_description, autoload) VALUES(‘
   rss_0ff4b43bd116a9d8720d689c80e7dfd4’, ”, ”, ‘no’)
 * and
 * WordPress database error: [Unknown column ‘autoload’ in ‘field list’]
    INSERT
   INTO wp_options (option_name, option_value, option_description, autoload) VALUES(‘
   template’, ”, ”, ‘yes’)
 * Also, the installation pages had this type of stuff too.
 * How do i fix this – this is the first time i’ve used blogging software so i am
   VERY blog-software illiterate.

 * Ok when you deleted WordPress 1.2.2, did you delete the MySQL database aswell?
You need to do that and then do the install
    **[Moderator comments – The above
information is WRONG. You do NOT need to delete your database. There is virtually
NO TIME ever when the database needs to be deleted. Let’s not confuse `database`
   with `tables`.]**

 * Use phpmyadmin to drop the wp_ tables or your Hosting Provider’s control panel
to delete the database and create a new one.

 * Yea like Macmanx said, use your hosting provider’s control panel (cpanel as an
example) and delete the mysql db you created.

 * i don’t think my hosting provider has given me access to a control panel, but
i’ll ask about it. i hope that solves things =/
 * when i delete the database, can i rename it the original name?

 * “when i delete the database, can i rename it the original name?”
 * That all depends on your hosting provider.
