# Installing WordPress?

 * Hi,
 * I’m very new to WordPress and have a “name.wordpress.com” domain. I was developing
   the layout of the blog a little but wanted to implement some plug-ins such as
   page2cat, although I’m aware you need to download wordpress for this.
 * Anyway, I’ve now downloaded the web platform installer thing and webmatrix and
   a few other things. My problem is that when I go to install WordPress, it comes
   up with either ‘Create a server’ or ‘use existing’. if i choose use existing,
   it won’t work because there isn’t an existing server, but when i try to create
   a new one – following [http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_on_Microsoft#Step_1._Install_the_Web_Platform_Installer_3.0](http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_on_Microsoft#Step_1._Install_the_Web_Platform_Installer_3.0)
   advice after it says “9. Leave Create new database selected” – it just says it
   can’t connect to any mysql servers and goes back to the download page.
 * Any help on this issue would be great! Thanks
 * P.S. I’m not sure if it is important but the previous steps listed on the aforementioned
   link didn’t come up for me:
 * Specify a password for the MySQL administrator user name (root), and then click
   Continue.
    Note: It is important to remember this password because you will be
   asked for this password in the steps that follow.
 * Allow the Web PI installation to complete.
    In the Web Site box, leave Default
   Web Site selected. In the ‘WordPress’ application name box, type a name for the
   WordPress 3.x site, and then click Continue. For example, type myWordPress.

 * I am having trouoble loading wordpress.org from hostgator. It gives me 1% then
   nothing. Cna anyone help me
