Installing WordPress – I’m lost

    I bought a domain from startlogic. It came with an install file for wordpress. I clicked on it and all the files are now in my directory. I try to open up the install.php file and all it wants to do is save to my computer or open in notepad. I’ve made the changes to the config.sample.php file and saved as config.php. What am I doing wrong or not doing to get the program to install so my friends and I can use the program? This is my first try to use a php based program and I am totally lost here. Please if anyone can help walk me through the problems I seem to be experiencing I’d appreciate it.

    It sounds as if your host has not enabled index.php as a viable index file.

    i had similar problem. i was doing everthing correct but still the install.php was encountring the problem. it appeared that my host had the mysql database on one server and the scripts on another. so it’s worthh checking with yout host to make sure that they are indeed on the same server. good luck.
