 * If you want to run WordPress from your computer, you’ll need to setup a local
   server environment. Follow this guide:

 * I’m having a terrible time trying to get WordPress up and running.
 * I am on a Mac, OS10.6.6. I downloaded WordPress & put all the files into a folder
in my local root folder, which I named WORDPRESS.
 * The install.php file didn’t work. When I try to launch the wp-config-sample.php,
it brings it up in DreamWeaver, but says: “Dynamically-related files for this
document may have changed and should be re-discovered by the server.”
 * I tried loading the WORDPRESS folder to my website, in the http area. I then
tried running install.php from the web, but get an error message: “Parse error:
syntax error, unexpected $end in /home/’myusername’/public_html/kenwestphal.com/
   WORDPRESS/wp-includes/functions.php on line 2166”
 * I’m baffled.

 * You have to run WordPress on an Apache and mySQL server. You can’t just install
it on your computer like a program.
 * You would need to run and configure MAMP (google it) to be able to do this on
your own machine, and you would also need to be able to set up and know how to
   create a mySQL database.
 * Basically, you have to set up your home computer as a webserver, which is a not-
simple task. Download MAMP and follow the instructions linked above, and that
should get you closer, but this site won’t be visible to the outside world.
