# Internal Server Error

 * Hello,
 * I uploaded a new theme to my site today. It seemed to be working fine. I am not
   sure what happened, but the next thing I new I was getting
 * Internal Server Error
 * I can’t log in to change anything that way. My .htaccess file is intact. (I can
   see that thru ftp). My file manager page is blank. Anybody got any ideas on how
   to fix this? Thanks.
 * I am using WP 3.5.1 multisite.

 * – To rule out any theme-specific issue, try switching to the unedited default
   Twenty Twelve theme for a moment using the WP dashboard. If you don’t have access
   to your admin area, you can switch to the default theme by renaming your current
   theme’s folder in wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder
   name using via FTP or SFTP or whatever file management application your host 
   provides. Alternately, you can remove other themes except the default theme. 
   That will force your site to use it.

 * Ask your hosting company how to access the error logs on the server for your 
   site – that should give you more information about what’s going on.

 * It’s a plugin issue apparently. I renamed my plugin file and “Voila!” Thanks.

 * I want to thank all of you for this information. I recently installed the NextGen
   gallery; and instantly received an Internal Server Error and could not log into
   my dashboard. Under a deadline and a little panic, I found this topic forum (
   thank you!). I also renamed the NextGen plugin via FTP login and things were 
   fixed! Unfortunately, I don’t know a solution to properly install the NextGen
   plugin now… but thank god the site is back up and running.

 * As you’ll see, there are a lot of problems with their recent update, so you may
   want to wait a bit or find another plugin for the time being.

 * After extensive research, it was a memory allocation problem on my server. I 
   needed to increase the memory in the php.ini file from 32 to 64. All my plugins
   work like a charm now! 🙂
