Inventory trouble with variable products

I want users to be able to select an option in the dropdown before adding to cart.
I don’t want this to have any impact on inventory quantity. Right now I’m getting an error even though it says 40 in stock.No matter what option is picked in the dropdown, the total quantity should decrease by the number the customer buys. I don’t want to have different inventory levels for each individual product option.

Hey @admindroidturf
It is possible to set inventory at the overall product level instead of each variation. To do that, edit the product and look in the “inventory” tab. There is a checkbox to manage stock which keeps the stock level at the overall parent product.
Give that a try and see if it works for you.

Hmmm…something is definitely not right here. When I tried to add an item to the cart, a message popped up saying that the total must be less than or equal to zero. It’s not possible to have a zero quantity in the cart and certainly not negative numbers.
I would suggest working through the troubleshooting guide. This seems like it could be coming from a conflict and not only a configuration issue.
