IPN failure
-
I have used the simple shopping cart for just over a month and all was fine, but recently I am receiving e-mails from Paypal after every payment saying the IPN has failed. The cart orders are all in “bin” but the orders have gone through.
Any ideas how to resolve?

Hi, did you set up your IPN correctly in your PayPal account? If you did, you might need to contact PayPal about this issue. See if they can share some light into your problem.
Kind regards
Have you added any firewall or security plugin to your site recently that is blocking the IPN message from paypal? Test an IPN after you temporarily deactivate the security feature.
Hi mbrsolution,
Thank you for replying and the link.
Yes the IPN is set up correctly and it was working fine. Paypal have said that when notifications are sent they fail and there is a http 403 message.
In the debug report form WP shopping cart it says, “IPN validation failed”
Any ideas?
Many thanks
AmandaHi mra13,
thank you for your reply.
I have not set up any new firewall or security plugins recently. I have jetpack and cleantalk, but I’ve checked their reports and they don’t appear to be blocking the notifications.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Amandaokay good. It shouldn’t give a 403 error though. That means the server is not letting the plugin execute the IPN handling script and process the IPN. Please request your hosting provider to look at the server log which will reveal exactly why the server is complaining and preventing the IPN handling script from running.
Hi,
Many thanks for that.
The server has been contacted. They requested a screen shot and were sent the log from the cpanel. They then said they were re-creating the Paypal error and did a test payment, they have also tried various things like “putting it the safelist” (I really don’t understand what theses things mean, sorry), but nothing seems to solve the problem and the issue persists. They say they cannot find the problem.
Is there anything else that could be causing a 403 error from Paypal?
It seems crazy, when the plugin was set up it worked perfectly and I really liked it, but then this problem started and there seems to be no reason for it.
Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I said it’s a great plugin, I’d much rather solve this than change it for a different one.
Many thanks,
AmandaI can’t think of anything else unfortunately. The hosting provider kind of need to look at the server log otherwise they won’t know the actual reason as to why the server is failing to carry out the request.
Hi,
I agree with you and have copied all your replies and passed them onto the host along with the 403 report from Paypal but unfortunately they still cannot locate the problem or come up with a reason why the IPN’s are failing.
AmandaHi,
I changed servers a couple of weeks ago after getting nowhere with the last server to try and solve the above problem of 403 codes and IPN failure from Paypal. Unfortunately the new server is still encountering the same problem and although they have been more helpful in trying to locate the problem they cannot find an error on the log.
They have asked if you are able to identify what the problem could be via de-bugging. I have run a de-bug test off the plugin but it does not give enough information.
Any help or ideas would be gratefully appreciated.
AmandaPlease share the URL of the page where you have the add to cart buttons so I can inspect a couple of things.
Hi
The add to cart buttons are on most posts, this is an example of a post with an add to cart button,https://newearthenergies.org/haematite-protection-reiki/

AmandaThank you. I checked the page and the setup looks fine to me. I can’t see where the issue is coming from on this site unfortunately.
