# Issue/Errors with Jetpack, possibly carousel – please help!

 * My host contact me to tell me that a plugin on my site was causing errors, and
   we narrowed it down to, we think, Jetpack, possibly the carousel feature.
 * When I turn off Jetpack the errors go away, turn it back on, and they’re back.
 * All of the error stuff he has sent me means NOTHING to me! And he said it’s not
   his area of expertise and unable to help.

 * So, the main error overall is “PHP message: PHP Warning: file_exists(): File 
   name is longer than the maximum allowed path length on this platform (4096)”
 * This is actually something your hosting provider can and should fix, they can
   increase the file name limit in the PHP configuration.
 * With that said, it appears to be too long because it’s a lot of concatenated 
   CSS, and even though that is our CSS, we definitely don’t concatenate like that.
 * Are you running any optimization or minification plugins, or optimization/minification
   features of a caching plugin? If so, does Carousel work properly without errors
   when those are switched off?

 * I do use a caching plugin – WP Fastest Cache – but I’ve been using that for several
   years and the same with Jetpack without issue before.
 * This seems to be a recent thing…

 * It’s an error, there is NO file that is being loaded. It’s a bug in someone’s
   PHP code or CSS/HTML. The “file too long” message is a red-herring.

 * That sounds most likely. The cache plugin is minifying the image file’s CSS attributes
   and for some reason passing it off as the file name.
 * I recommend checking with the caching plugin’s support on this.

 * Update:
 * No, minification is still off. Errors started manifesting before I even touched
   its settings.
 * It’s something going on with something your particular config for Jetpack is 
   doing which is breaking HTML/CSS in a way that the site is telling visitors to
   load a non-existent file that is named some garbage mess of CSS. (None of the
   hundreds of other sites we have with Jetpack on it is doing this.)
 * The mess below is not a file name. And I trimmed it from the entire errors so
   you don’t get distracted from how long the mess is. Between spaces and special
   characters, it could never work.

 * Hm, so then what as the result of “Turning off minification solves the issue”
   earlier then?
 * There must be something going on, either with the caching configuration, another
   plugin, or the server configuration, as this is the only report we have of this
   issue.
