Hello, I have an email delivery error. The strange thing is that the test emails works fine and I receive them but when I try to send a real email (I used my personal email address), I don’t receive anything. I confirmed my smtp user/password are correct.
This message appears at the top of my dashboard:

“EMAIL DELIVERY ERROR: the plugin WP Mail SMTP v2.1.1 logged this error during the last time it tried to send an email:

    Mailer: Other SMTP
The following From address failed: (the email address I used to send my message) : MAIL FROM command failed,Request failed; Mailbox unavailable
,550,SMTP server error: MAIL FROM command failed Detail: Request failed; Mailbox unavailable
    SMTP code: 550
Consider running an email test after fixing it.”

I’ll be very grateful if someone help me to resolve this issue.

  • Hi @babukchieva,

Thanks for reaching out. When you get a chance, could you please share how you’re trying to send a real email? Make sure the sender of that email is the one you’ve authenticated. Alternatively, you can check the ‘Force From Email’ option in WP Mail SMTP. This is because the ‘From Email’ for every email should match the one you’ve authenticated, that is, the SMTP username.

    I hope this helps!

    Hello @sanzeeb3

Thank you very much for your answer.

I just checked ‘Force From Email’ option in WP Mail SMTP. And tried again to send real email – I didn’t receive anything again. But test emails worked fine. The message that appears at the top of my dashboard had changed:

“EMAIL DELIVERY ERROR: the plugin WP Mail SMTP v2.1.1 logged this error during the last time it tried to send an email:

    Mailer: Other SMTP
    SMTP Error: data not accepted.
Consider running an email test after fixing it.”

Regarding the way I send real emails – I go to my website and filling up the contact form and use one of my email addresses. I asked a few friends to fill the contact form and send me emails. I didn’t recive nothing again.

    Hi @babukchieva,

Thanks for the details. It seems you’re using the WPForms plugin to create forms in your site. When you get a chance, could you please provide the screenshots from the form notification settings and WP Mail SMTP settings? If possible, also a list of activated plugins?

That will give us an idea of what might be going on!

    Thanks!

@sanzeeb3 Thank you for the answer and your help.

Yes, I use the WPForms plugin for my contact form. My activate plugins are: Nimble Page Builder, Really Simple SSL, Styler for WPForms, TranslatePress – Multilingual, UpdraftPlus – Backup/Restore, WP Mail SMTP, WPForms Lite and Yoast SEO

Hi @babukchieva – Thanks for the details! It seems your notification settings for WPForms and SMTP settings are fine. The email that is failing might not be the email submitted via forms. When you get a chance, could you please try changing the recipient (Send To Email Address) to a different mailbox and see you could receive the email?

    Thanks!

I have exactly the same issue, was working fine until recently and now started this error. Test email works perfectly but when email sent from WP Form then no email is sent.

My plugins are All in one WP Security, Elementor, Starter templates, W3 total cache, WP mail SMTP and WP forms lite.

I have tried multiple recipient addresses and it makes no difference.

    Hi @sanzeeb3

I jist try aol mail and try to send email from my contact form – I didn’t receive anything again. The test email work fine. It’s just like @antfox said.

The message that appears at the top of my dashboard was the same as before:

“EMAIL DELIVERY ERROR: the plugin WP Mail SMTP v2.1.1 logged this error during the last time it tried to send an email:

    Mailer: Other SMTP
    SMTP Error: data not accepted.
Consider running an email test after fixing it.”

Thank you for your help and time!

    HI @babukchieva, @antfox,

When you get a chance, could you please add the ‘Reply-To’ email address the same to the ‘From Email’. It seems Yahoo and possibly other SMTP providers don’t want the reply-to to be other than the authenticated email address.

I hope this helps! Please let me know how it goes.

    Thanks 🙂

    Hello @sanzeeb3

Thank you for your reply and I’m sorry that your solution didn’t work so I have to write to you again. I set ‘Reply-To’ email address the same as ‘From Email’ but nothing happend. The message that appears at the top of my dashboard when I tried to send email was the same as before. I will provide a screenshot just in case. I hope I understood correctly:

Thank you in advance for your help!

    Hi @babukchieva,

I apologize for the confusion. Please set the ‘Reply-To’ email address to the SMTP username in the WP Mail SMTP settings. The ‘From Email’ in form notification settings is forced to use the ‘From Email’ in WP Mail SMTP, but Reply-To isn’t and it seems Yahoo doesn’t want reply-to to be other email addresses.

Please let me know how it goes.
