• Hello. I made a small edit to one of my PHP templates, then refreshed the front-end of one of my pages. But the edit did not appear. I then carried out an ’empty all caches’ in Performance–>Dashboard, and carried out a hard reset on the page. But the edit still did not appear. I then deactivated W3 Total Cache and refreshed the page, and the edit appeared on the page. Is this expected behavior, or am I doing something wrong? Shouldn’t ’empty all caches’ resolve this particular issue? Or will I sometimes have to deactivate/reactivate the plugin to get my edits to appear?

    Thanks.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • 1. Are you using Cloudflare with W3TC? If so then you might want to enable the CloudFlare extension provided by W3TC so it can handle clearing cache on CloudFlare, otherwise you will have to manually go to Cloudflare site and empty its cache there. Never tried the CloudFlare plugin on wordpress (not related to W3TC’s extension).

    2. You shouldnt have to disable/enable to see your changes.

    3. When you click Empty Cache, can you check via ftp to see that the cache files are renamed to _old and/or deleted?

    4. It coudld be related to your Browser cache settings and your browser is honoring it — meaning, it’s not showing you the changes until the cache timeout occurs.

    OK thanks for that.

    >> Are you using Cloudflare with W3TC?

At the time, Cloudflare was not implemented on the site.

    >> You shouldnt have to disable/enable to see your changes.

    OK.

    >> When you click Empty Cache, can you check via ftp to see that the cache files are renamed to _old and/or deleted?

No such renaming or deletion occurs.

OK let’s discuss this further. If this was the case, would deactivating W3 Total Cache plugin activate this ‘cache timeout?’ As I mentioned, as soon as I deactivated the plugin, the edit appeared on my site.

    Thanks.
