 * I’m using the Twenty Ten theme (I know…old) and trying to get a NextGen basic
   slideshow running on my front page. When the page is first loaded, two images
   are stacked vertically with other page content overlaying the bottom image. Both
   images are “aligned left”. Once the slideshow timeout value is reached, the page“
   refreshes” and then shows properly (one image, centered). This happens with both
   Internet Explorer and Firefox. (Have not tried others)
 * Also, I cannot seem to find a way to “randomize” the display of images…every
   page load/refresh starts “at the beginning” and shows in the exact same order.
   Users will never see images in galleries further down the line. (I inserted all
   galleries because I wanted images to show from all galleries.)

 * Additional info… I deleted all galleries to display except for one…still exhibits
   the issue.

 * Hi [@w4atx](https://wordpress.org/support/users/w4atx/),
 * Can you please tell us if the images stacked vertically problem shows up on the
   first page’s load or it persists at any subsequent page loads. If that’s for
   the first page’s load it may be okay since it may take some time for the images
   to be loaded and cached until the slider will execute.
 * As for a randomized source, we have currently such an option for NextGen. You
   will be able to use it if going to a post/page, click on “Add Gallery” button
   from the editor’s toolbar then click on the arrow icon next to “Galleries” and
   select “Random Images” then indicate the number of the images you want to display.
   It will show up a random selection of images from all the galleries.

 * Thanks for the reply! The vertical stacking occurs on every page load/refresh.
   This slideshow is only set up on the front page of my site. Here is the shortcode
   I’m using:
 * [ ngg src=”random_images” display=”basic_slideshow” maximum_entity_count=”100″]
 * BTW…thanks for your clarification regarding random images…however, there doesn’t
   seem to be anything random about its pattern. When you reload the page it starts
   in exactly the same order, showing the same pictures in the same order as the
   last page load. While it does appear to be honoring selection from random galleries,
   I was expecting (hoping) for a true random pattern such that the viewer sees
   different pictures upon every site visit.

 * Hi [@w4atx](https://wordpress.org/support/users/w4atx/)!
 * Could you please share with us the link to that gallery display so we can take
   a look?

 * Hi [@w4atx](https://wordpress.org/support/users/w4atx/),
 * Thanks for the shortcode. Looks like you have chosed to show 100 random images
   from all the galleries which is a query that may take some time in order to load
   all the 100 images and respectively it may show the stacked vertically until
   all 100 are loaded.
 * I would suggest using a lower number of images in order to make them load really
   fast and avoid the vertically on-load stacking.
 * Best Regards,
    Mihai

 * I changed the “100” image count to “10:. I still get the stacked images. Also…
   there is still no randomness as far as the order of images. A page reload starts
   the same images…and with a much reduced number of images this becomes very apparent
   to any site visitor. I consider both of these issues a bug.

 * Hi [@w4atx](https://wordpress.org/support/users/w4atx/)
 * We are taking a second look to a similar report regarding the “random” option
   with our widgets.
 * Something that should have in mind is that Random selections are cached for 24
   hours at this moment.
 * A possible workaround is to use “Random order”
    This setting is different, you
   will set up a “random” order to a specific gallery. That one will automatically
   change the order of the images if you load the site again. 1.- Choose the gallery.
   2.- Add this code to the short-code order_by=”rand()” Sample Short-code: [ngg
   src=”galleries” ids=”1″ display=”basic_thumbnail” order_by=”rand()”]
 * Note: change the display with the one you would like to use.
 * Please, let us know if that worked for you.

 * Because it has been a month or more since your last reply, I am going to mark
   this as resolved as I assume you have found a solution. Please feel free to reply
   again if you still have questions.
