 * Hi, I have had the Jetpack plugin but I do not seem to have too many benefits
   from it. In addition, I had it activated before, then I deactivated it and now
   I acivated it again. Meanwhile I have learned that there is WordPress.com and
   WordPress.org, which do not always work the same way in relation to another software(
   Gravatar, for example).
 * Now, after activating the Jetpack plugin it again asks me to connect to WordPress.
   com, but my website is running on WordPress.org (and I was not aware of the difference
   before, it all was just WordPress for me).
 * Can you tell me more about the differences, catches, and anything that seem relevant
   to this?
 * Thanks.

 * Could you post this in Jetpack’s support section: [http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack#postform](http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack#postform)

 * You need a wordpress.com account (not a site – just an account) so that you obtain
   an API key for Jetpack. Some of the resource intensive functionality that Jetpack
   provides is hosted on servers owned by wordpress.com. The API key is a way of
   requesting permission to use these services and allows wordpress.com some basic
   information on who is using their servers.
 * Does that help?
