When you create a staging or test site, Jetpack sometimes treats it as a new site and starts tracking statistics from scratch. Unfortunately, Jetpack stats aren’t stored inside your WordPress database — they’re stored on WordPress.com’s servers and are linked to your site’s unique Jetpack ID.
If your staging site replaced your live site’s Jetpack connection or got a new ID, the stats from before won’t automatically appear.
Here’s what you can try:
- Reconnect the original Jetpack connection
- Go to your live site (not the staging one).
- In the dashboard, disconnect Jetpack and reconnect it using the same WordPress.com account that had the old stats.
- Contact Jetpack Support
- Since stats are server-side, only Jetpack’s support team can merge or restore them.
- Open a ticket here: https://jetpack.com/contact-support/
- Provide both the old and new site URLs, plus any staging info, so they can link your stats back to your live site.
- Avoid overwriting stats in future staging
- When making a staging site, disable Jetpack’s statistics module on staging, or use “Safe Mode” to avoid affecting your live stats.
If your Jetpack ID is intact, reconnecting should bring the numbers back. If not, only the Jetpack team can re-link them for you.
I’m using free plan, can anyone help to move stats from stating site back to my live site.
Hi @mndarwish –
We’re happy to move stats from your staging site to your live site.
To do that, please contact us at the form below. When responding, include the URLs for both the staging and your live site, along with a link to this thread.
