    Hi!

I’m using Jetpack to manage future subscriptions and despite setting language to Polish the supscription confirmation email still remains not fully translated. There are words like “blog name” or “confirm follow” button.

    As you can find at:

    https://translate.wordpress.com/projects/wpcom/pl/default

a “confirm follow” is marked as translated but waiting (for a year already…).

A term “blog name” is not a convenient one as not every WP website is a blog itself.

Any clues to change confirmation email content before Automattic coders do the job? 🙂

Could it be done with some changes in php files of the theme?

Any help appreciated and all the best,
    Mike

You won’t be able to hardcode different values since the emails are sent from WordPress.com servers, and not from your site.

I did, however, ask one of my Polish colleagues to take a closer look and the pending translations, and validate any of the strings that seem correct.

In the future, if you’d like a Polish validator to take a look at some of your suggestions and validate them, do not hesitate to start a new thread in the Translations forums here:

Well, here are some additional news. I’ve tested a new post notification by e-mail and the received message is fully in English (apart from the post title and excerpt). Surprisingly a friend of mine runs a blog and her auto-mailings to subscribers with new posts announcements are partly polish at least. I’m shure she did not touch any code since it’s me who established her blog on WP a year ago. So please ask your polish colleagues about the built-in automatic mailings which are sent after we publish new post. When a polish internet user finds a message with English title it’s hard not to be thrown to the spam folder. I’ll go and see the forum from your link tomorrow and maybe find some help there.

    Best,
    Mike

The emails are sent in your blog’s language by default, but that default will be overwritten if you signed up to the blog with a WordPress.com account. In that case, the emails will be sent in the language you’ve chosen in your WordPress.com settings here:
    https://wordpress.com/me

Could you check and make sure your own account is set to use Polish?

    Thanks!

    Hi Jeremy,

it partly worked – email notification about new post is now beautifully crafted in polish. But a subscription email title (for new blog supscribers) still says:

    “Please confirm your subscription for”

and that’s definitely not in polish 🙂

Another issue: WP does not send any e-mail notifications about new portfolio-type posts and that behaviour ruins our whole website idea as we have gallery posts of this type. It’s hardly possible to achieve the same visual effect using regular posts, even gallery ones.

    We are lost 🙂
Or maybe there’s a solution which we hope we don’t know.

    Best,
    Mike

That string hasn’t been validated yet. Since you’re looking to translate all the content into Polish, I’d recommend looking at each string in GlotPress, suggest strings when no translation exists yet, and then post in the translation forums with links to each one of the translations you’d like a Polish validator to review.

    Thanks!

WP does not send any e-mail notifications about new portfolio-type posts

As you’ve discovered in this issue, that’s not possible yet. We’ll update the issue as soon as we start working on this!

There is a red flag on translations list by the string:

“Please confirm your subscription for %s”

    because translation:

“Proszę o potwierdzenie Twojej subskrypcji dla”

is obviousli missing a “%s” value. I tried to add it and click a “suggest new translation” button but after I click nothing happens. Is my suggestion sent to the right place anyway?

Once you click on “suggest new translation”, it becomes visible to all Polish validators. However, I would still recommend that you post in the translation forums if you’d like your suggestions to be processed quicker.
