 * Hello,
 * I’m another user with issues with the Jetpack Twitter connection posting the
   wrong links. It is posting a URL for the development site rather than the production
   site, although all details have been changed. It is also posting a short URL
   in the form domain.com/?p= even though I have changed to name-based permalinks.
   I have disconnected and reconnected Jetpack from wordpress.com and clicked ‘save’
   on the general settings page. The site is [http://www.kingdomcollision.com](http://www.kingdomcollision.com)
 * Many thanks

 * I had a look at your site and your Jetpack settings, and it seems that you’ve
   managed to solve the issue by yourself: by disconnecting and reconnecting Jetpack
   to WordPress.com, you’ve updated your Jetpack settings to use the correct site
   URL.
 * As per Publicize and the links posted to Twitter, Jetpack does indeed use shortlinks
   when posting links on Twitter. If you’ve enabled a shortlink plugin like WP Bitly,
   or the wp.me shortlinks module, we will use these shortlinks. If you did not
   enable this module, we will use your site’s default shortlinks.
 * I hope this helps. Let me know if there’s anything else you need.

 * Thanks for the help. It now seems not to be working at all – no posts are automatically
   posting to Facebook or Twitter. I’ve tried disconnecting and reconnecting to
   Workpress.com, and deleting and recreating the links to FB and Twitter. Same
   issue with another site I run, [http://www.paulbennison.com](http://www.paulbennison.com)
   Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

 * Actually it seems to be working again now, maybe it’s intermittent. I’ll wait
   a few days and come back again if there’s still issues. Thanks again.

 * OK a user posted this morning and it didn’t appear on Facebook. No change in
   settings at all. Definitely an intermittent problem. Any suggestions? Thanks
   in advance.

 * BTW it was [http://www.paulbennison.com](http://www.paulbennison.com) that didn’t
   work this morning. Lunchtime yesterday I disconnected and reconnected the Facebook
   connection. User posted one post afterwards and it correctly shared on FB. Posted
   again this morning and it didn’t.

 * Could you go to Settings > Sharing in your dashboard, and make sure that the
   connections you’ve created are shared with other users on the site? You mentioned
   that other users are also posting on that site; if you were the one who created
   the Publicize connections, you’ll need to share these connections so other users
   trigger Publicize when they publish posts.
 * If that doesn’t help, could you walk me through the steps you follow when you
   publish a new post? Do you use plugins to clone or duplicate existing posts?
   Do you publish your posts from the dashboard, or from a third-party app? Do you
   post them directly, or schedule them to be published later?
 * Thanks!

 * Thanks for the response.
 * Both sites are using shared connections. Posts are created from the dashboard,
   typed in directly, and published immediately.

 * Could you open the posts that were not shared in the post editor, open the Publicize
   options on the right side of the editor, and let me know if Facebook is properly
   checked?
 * Thanks!

 * Thanks. That’s interesting – Facebook wasn’t checked in the Publicize setting
   of the last two posts, but it was on the one prior to that. Is there a way for
   this to be turned on or off other than the user selecting it? I’ll check with
   the user concerned and ask them to double-check this on future posts. Strange.

 * This option should be turned on by default, but if you want it to be off, you
   can add a small code snippet to your theme’s functions.php file:
    [http://jetpack.me/2013/10/15/ever-accidentally-publicize-a-post-that-you-didnt/](http://jetpack.me/2013/10/15/ever-accidentally-publicize-a-post-that-you-didnt/)

 * Hi,
 * After trying for a week, both users on separately hosted sites report that the
   Facebook link isn’t working. I’ve asked them to double-check the publicize setting
   and they report that when they click there, they’re unable to tick the Facebook
   box – it’s grey and doesn’t respond when they click on it.
 * Thanks,
 * Lee

 * This will happen if said post is already published; Publicize can only be used
   for newly published posts.
    Do you use a plugin to clone old posts in order to
   create new ones? If you do not use such plugin, could you ask one of your authors
   to check the Publicize box before to publish the post?

 * No – as I said above, neither website uses a plugin to clone old posts. As I
   said above, I have asked the authors to check the Publicize box and both report
   that it is usually greyed out. This has only been an issue for the past 2-3 months,
   previously it’s all been working fine. All posts are typed directly in as new
   posts and published in the normal way via the WordPress dashboard.
 * As I said, both websites are entirely separate installations with different themes,
   but I do use a similar package of plugins. I beginning to wonder whether one
   of the plugins is incompatible with Jetpack sharing.

 * So the box is greyed out before you or your authors even publish the post?
 * Could you post a list of the plugins you use on both sites here?
 * Thanks!

 * Thanks – yes, they are saying it’s greyed out before they’ve published. I didn’t
   quite believe it but after trying to publish a few posts myself I’ve experienced
   it a couple of times too. I couldn’t find any consistency in when it appeared.
 * Plugins are:
 * Akismet
    ALO EasyMail Newsletter Backup and Move Plugin Better WP Security Captcha
   Disable Comments Embed Facebook Event Organiser Jetpack by WordPress.com Social
   Media Feather WordPress Social Login WP-Optimize WP Open Graph YouTube
 * I can rule out Captcha as I’ve only just installed that.
 * Thanks so much for your help.
