# Charset Reset

 * I’ll admit. I did something very noobish just now. Somehow I managed to change
   the charset to something that doesn’t exist, and now the screen is filled with
   a mix of chinese characters and odd icons.
 * Is there a way to reset the charset? I’d hate to reinstall WP for the fifth time
   this month >.<

 * Usually, reinstalling never solves anything – unless you delete the existing 
   content.
 * Can’t you just change it back, exactly as you messed up?
    admin > Settings >

 * The admin panel is covered with this odd charset as well. In other words – there’s
   nothing BUT text. Design is all gone.

 * Then you messed with more things than just the encoding. On the other hand, you
   don’t need “design” to see the “Encoding for pages and feeds” field and change
   it.
 * If all else fails: go to the database and change it in the wp_options table.

 * I managed to reset it.
 * By the way, is there a list of reccomended charlists for WordPress around here?
   I kinda don’t want to mess up again.
