 * Good Evening!
 * I have a problem i can’t get my head around:
 * My site’s language is in German, WordPress is shown in that language just fine!
 * Whenever i install other plugins, they are always in english.
 * I tried to manually set the YOAST plugins language to: [https://kb.yoast.com/kb/plugin-english-site-another-language/](https://kb.yoast.com/kb/plugin-english-site-another-language/)
   but in that named directory, there aren’t any translation files.
 * And if i delete any of them, say from another plugin, wordpress does not indicate
   that the language files should be installed anew.
 * This site is installed on webspace with subdomains. So one domain is kept under/
   while the one i work with is kept under /subdomain-name.
 * My WordPress’ version is 5.2.4.
 * My questions:
 * – How can i manage, that the plugins are downloaded and shown in the correct
   language (german)
 * – Why aren’t the plugins i try to download (f.e. yoast seo of which there’s a
   german translation) in german although the site’s language is in german?
 * Thanks in advance!
 * Cheers, Max

 * Hi Max,
 * Just for clarification – Is the WordPress site actually running under the language
   of German? This was the first question that is prompted on a WordPress fresh
   installation, so I’d first recommend that the site is indeed running under German.
   Some plugins are developed to only support specific languages (i.e. English),
   since the plugin developers more than likely didn’t add secondary language compatibility.
   In this case, there’s not much you can do unless you either contact the plugin
   developers and ask for German to be implemented into the plugin and/or try to
   use a plugin which might translate the plugins pages on the back-end of the site.
 * One plugin you may consider using is the WPML plugin, which _should_ translate
   most plugins pages into your desired language. Set German as your primary language
   whenever you install the plugin and see if that helps. I will post a link to
   the plugin [here](https://wpml.org/).
 * Thanks!

 * “Is the WordPress site actually running under the language of German? ” Yes!
 * “One plugin you may consider using is the WPML plugin, which should translate
   most plugins pages into your desired language. ”
 * The thing is, i tried it with loco_translate first, since it’s a free application,
   and didn’t suceed – and i really don’t know why. It didnt matter, if i uploaded
   the .po and .mo Files for example for “Yoast” to the folder: <wphome>/wp-content/
   languages/plugin
 * I have the feeling that there’s something wrong with that…
 * Is there anything i could check to tackle that problem other, than to download
   the wpml plugin which is not free?

 * I have tried to copy the .po and compiled .mo files (with translations) to the
   following destinations:
 * /html/sitename/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/languages
    /html/sitename/wp-
   content/languages/plugins /html/sitename/wp-content/languages
 * But still, the plugin is in english… 🙁
