 * At the moment I am using shortcode to embed my testimonial form. Is there a way
   of referring to it in a hyperlink (e.g. html as it appears I can’t put shortcode
   in a href…)

 * No, the shortcode needs to be in page content or a widget in order to be rendered.
   href can only be a URL.

 * Correction: the shortcode needs to be in the content of any **post type** that
   renders shortcodes – post, page, popup (e.g. Popup Maker), product (e.g. WooCommerce),
   custom post types included in theme, etc. – or a widget.
