Layers not appearing?

I tried making my own slider with my own designs appear over images and background videos, but none of them actually appear in the live view. I can see them fine when I’m editing and looking at “Preview” though. I then went to download a sample template just to see if it was my doing in the slider I made, but none of the layers in the template appear in the live site either! What is going on? Thank you!
