    Hi gungholady1951,

I’m really sorry to hear that you ran into that issue. That’s not good news.

What version of BD are you using?

    What version of WP?

    Are you on shared hosting?

How big was your CSV file you used to import? Are you also using images in that import as well?

Let me know so I can help you get past this and avoid problems in the next round.

Business Directory Plug-In Version 3.6.4, WordPress 4.2, file size 881 KB with 7,573 lines, no images. I am not on a shared hosting plan that I am aware of. My domain is through a hosting company called Fat Cow.

After I got my WordPress back up and the plug-in reinstalled, I tried a sample file with 49 lines of data. It stated that the import worked without any problems. Only thing is that while all of the categories that were listed in that file imported, information for only one of the businesses in that file imported. The small file did not break my setup though.

The file size should have been 1.1 MB

    Hi gungholady1951,

I did a bit of research and it does appear that your web host (FatCow) is primarily a shared hosting company. That has some consequences for how much data you can push through at a time.

I would suggest breaking up your CSV file into chunks–maybe start with 4 chunks and see if that allows you to get one of them imported. I know that’s not ideal, but shared hosting is the bane of our existence here at BD because it gives folks a false sense of what their site is capable of. You can read more about it here: http://businessdirectoryplugin.com/support-forum/faq/what-kind-of-hosting-should-i-use-for-wordpress-and-why-is-shared-hosting-a-problem/

You should also try deactivating all other plugins while importing to ensure that you get the maximum number of resources available to BD and then re-activate them when you’re done.

Report back if you can’t get either of those to work.

As you will note it did not work to import everything when I did a trial with only 49 businesses on the list. It stated there were no errors but only imported one business while importing all of the categories for those 49 businesses.

I think we might have to take this discussion offline so I can see the file in question. Contact me here with a link to this forum thread: http://businessdirectoryplugin.com/contact/ and we’ll continue the discussion.
