@chrissyb – There are still some issues with character encoding when special characters are being used in a file name/path … this appears to be the case here. We are aware of this and looking for the best solution to implement.

Hi!
Ok that’s interesting so I simply have to stop using the underscore which I use out of habit?

Hi
Ah no that didn’t work, but the link that it’s generating:
http://www.haravoutsa.gr/nggallery/xaraone/%25ce%25ba%25ce%25b1%25cf%2584%25ce%25bf%25ce%25b9%25ce%25ba%25ce%25af%25ce%25b1-1
That file path doesn’t exist, it’s saying there should be a folder ‘nggallery’ in the root of the site? Could that be it…?
Chris
@chrissyb – If you review the links, you will see multiple instances of %25 which is an encoded % symbol which is used as part of the encoding of non-Roman(?) alphabet characters.
To test this, simply remove the 25 in each instance of %25 and the link should resolve … at least that is what we are seeing in our investigation of this issue. We unfortunately do not have a solution to the problem yet.

Thanks for the reply,
I have absolutely no need to use non-latin characters, in fact I can’t see where I have! Does that make sense? i may have used them as titles, but this isn’t where it pulls the URL from.
If I try and rebuild the gallery from the start could that work?
Hope that makes sense – and I’ve understood the issue….
Chris
@chrissyb – If you completely remove any non-Roman (non-latin?) characters from your site’s titles, paths, image names, etc. I suspect this issue should resolve …
… you may need to do a Reset under Gallery > Other Options and possibly clear the image cache under Gallery > Other Options > Miscellaneous as well.
Actually, any caching used currently or in the past may need to be cleared but that is rarely the case in other similar circumstances.

Thanks,
I can solve the non latin issue – but it’s still trying to pull from this folder:
SITE/nggallery/main/loft
It hasn’t created that folder on the server it saves all the albums/galleries to SITE/wp-content/gallery/
That’s the issue, is that how it was saving them in legacy versions? Is it something I could resove in the database?
Thanks again for your time π
@chrissyb – nggallery is not actually created but it is used as part of the plugin’s routing processes.
You can set that to a different value (not blank) under Gallery > Other Options > Miscellaneous … Permalink Slug.

Ah thanks i see, so that doesn’t really need to be changed if it’s just for routing…
So I’m back to the start, Lightbox not working, not even in the default WordPress theme!
Any other troubleshooting tips π
Thanks…
@chrissyb – It appears NextGEN Gallery is no longer active on your site … sorry to see that.
