# Link Categories Error

 * Hi all,
    I’m facing this link categories error, on my blog where link should 
   have to appear, following error show up.
 *     ```
       WordPress database error: [Unknown column 'link_count' in 'where clause']
       SELECT cat_id, cat_name FROM wp_categories WHERE link_count!='0'
       ```
   
 * I’ve tried to configure it from dashboard but I failed, tell me what to do and
   how to do.

 * It appears you’re missing ‘link_count’ in the database. I’m not sure the best
   way to fix this. Earlier today I upgraded a 2.0.5 blog to 2.1.1, and I noted 
   it required a database update.
 * Another thread here stated that 2.1.1 does some kind of manipulation on the category
   database, if I understood the post correctly.
 * Is this error from a plugin? You could try turning all plugins off.
 * There’s also a way to write a short database script that will create that column
   for you, presuming you can get into the database, but someone else will have 
   to volunteer the precise code IF it’s a good way to fix this error.
