Looking for plugin like…

I know this isn’t the plugin forum, but I would like to implement something that is a part of my current theme in a plugin for a different theme (thus posting it here). If you go to my site: fixbyproximity.com you will see that I am using the custom community theme. I really like the “slideshow” of posts on the front page, but I am not too crazy about the rest of it. Is there a plugin or feature that exists to emulate this?
