# Loop returns pages – not posts

 * Hi, I’m building my first wordpress theme from scratch and have a confusing problem.
   I’ve searched the web for the solution but can’t find.
 * My implementation of the wordpress loop is returning pages as the blog instead
   of the posts. It looks exactly as it should, except the content.
 * I’m building it on my own private dev server, so I can’t give you a url to visit,
   but here is my loop code in case I’ve done something in there:

 * edit: interestingly, if I click ‘next page’, it then shows posts. Only the default
   home page shows incorrectly.

 * In the Settings > Reading do you have the home page set to show a static page
   or “Your latest posts”? Just a guess since I can’t see your code.

 * Yep – set to static page = home, posts shown on = home.
 * Which is odd as I did not configuring, just installed it and left it.
