• Hello,
Firstly I want to thank you for this plugin, it’s really useful and I’ve used it many many times…
While working with your plugin I noticed a strange behavior on different websites and some of these websites were created from scratch (Not all of them are ready themes), so it’s happening like this, after writing content for each language and on pressing Upgrade button (Save), after saving, my content getting mixed together, for example I find the English content in the Arabic content and opposite, and sometimes I lose my content or part of it, sometimes I lose a whole language content (or a mix from the previous situations)!!
So is there some workaround for this or am I missing something?
Is this issue happening just with me!! because I didn’t find such an issue on the internet.

    Help, please…

    Regards

  • I have the same problem

Yep, me too. Happened a few times and it’s a nightmare. I have Romanian and English versions for the same page and sometimes, when I make a change in one of the language versions and I click ”Update”, the same content gets saved to both languages. So basically I lose the translated content for the other page and I have to recreate it all over again.
    Any updates on this?

This plugin is no longer maintained…

There is an alternative that takes into account qTranslate installations.

    WP Multilang

But more stable and flexible is multisite installation with plugin MultilingualPress

Yeah, after posting here I read more about the plugin and it seems it’s pretty much dead. Now I’m really worried about it, there’s no easy way to switch from it to another solution, but it has to be done. I’m gonna have to do it during the night and be very careful. 😀

Thank you guys, now I don’t feel I’m alone in this nightmare..
Do you advice in any replacement for qtranslate?
I don’t like to setup multiple WP sites for languages, there should be some solution.
thank you @terry789, I will check those plugins

    @obadaqawwas,
it also depends on the amount of other plugins you use.

WP Multilang seems like a good alternative because many components of qTranslate continue to work. See Migration from qTranslate-X

Whoa, if the transition from qTx is easier to this one, then beam me up, Scotty!

@terry789 actually I try my best to not use any plugins (Just the necessary ones like Visual composer, W3 Total cache and Yoast SEO).
Today I will try WP multilang and I hope it works.
    Thank you for your advice

@obadaqawwas please share your experience here, tell us how it goes if you have the time. I’m planning on doing it these days and it would help a lot to know what to expect. Thanks!

@vladpostolache till now I’m struggling with it.
I didn’t like it, qtranslate was more functional, it can’t translate theme options with string translation like the one we used in qtranlsate ([:en][:de][:]), you have to write a really painful JSON config file to handle it… and even after making it working I found some weird behavior I will show you my example:

    • <span class="myfont-location-1"></span>[:en]Address: Test content[:tr]Adres: Test content[:]
    • <span class="myfont-phone"></span>[:en]Phone: 90 123 22 22 567[:tr]Telefon: 90 123 22 22 567[:]

Now this was showing correctly with qtranslate, it was only changing the text between the brackets and it should do so.
WP Multilang strips my HTML tags and keeps the text between the brackets.
I don’t know if it’s a bug or it should work like this or maybe I did something wrong, I wrote to the plugin developer and I’m waiting for his reply.
By the way, you have to put your custom posts types and taxonomies in that JSON config file.
If you don’t need the manual string translation this plugin looking good till now, but for me, if I didn’t solve this I will look for another option or maybe multisite because I’m really desperate.

Damn it, so it’s not an easy transition either. I was hoping for something better. 😀
Yeah, I used the [:] method a few times throughout the site too, so that’s not gonna work anymore after switching. I have zero abilities with JS, so if I could avoid that, that would be great…
For now, the site is built so I don’t need to fiddle with it too much in the recent future, but as a precaution, whenever I change something in a page, I duplicate the tab with the open page for editing so that in case an error pops up, I can go to the duplicate tab and hit ”Update” and it goes back to the original working version. I’m worried about updating WP and theme and all, though…
    Thanks for the updates!
