# Lost function.php. No backup!

 * Hi, I am helping someone to get rid of a broken code that appears on his website.
   It seems that the function.php file is missing and I do not have a backup of 
   the site. The person who created this theme is nowhere to be found. Is there 
   a way to fix this? Thank you in advance!

 * Without a backup it’s going to be difficult to fix. Have you asked the hosting
   provider to see if perhaps they have backups. It’s a slim chance, but you never
   know.
 * Otherwise, you’ll have to download the theme and see if you can fix it by looking
   at all the files.

 * just use another theme, there are lot of beautiful themes, don’t stick to a old
   theme.

 * Thank you for the comments. It was a custom theme, designed by someone who we
   cannot contact. I will be redesigning this site next month. Meanwhile we wanted
   to fix that ugly broken code. I hoped there is a way to do it. Thanks!

 * If it is custom theme, then there is not a lot we can do to help. If you cannot
   manage this work yourself, perhaps you need to consider [hiring someone](http://jobs.wordpress.net/)
   to carry out the work for you?
